During 2017, the ARKANOINT team developed a research-based project under the title Pop-Up to investigate the use of augmented reality to encourage interaction and participation among children.
Small events were hosted in socio-cultural organisations in Cyprus and Germany where children from different ages and backgrounds got the opportunity to enjoy a location-based augmented reality game developed especially for these events.
The children were trying to locate and capture fantastic creatures that were constantly teleporting thus inviting them in a digital chase.
During these 7 small pop-up events and while children played and had fun, the team recorded reactions and any challenges that occurred.
In the end, the children were invited to participate as evaluators, brainstorm and give feedback in order to further develop the project according to their needs.
